Josh Halmi wants to empower PETM students for career success.
"PETM has great resources, alumni, and offers tremendous opportunities in Indianapolis.” Josh explains, “Our students are incredibly talented, but they often need help in polishing their image and building their brand.” Josh is bringing his considerable expertise to the newly created position of Assistant Director of Career Development for the School of Physical Education and Tourism Management.
Josh comes to PETM from one year of working in career counseling at IUPUI’s School of Liberal Arts and Degree Completion Office. Before that, he spent eight years as a career counselor at Yale University. While Josh admits that engaging busy students at IUPUI is a challenge, he says that at IUPUI or Yale, students are the same, “They still come to interviews in white socks.” Josh’s strategy is to find creative ways to reach students while they are on campus, like working with faculty to take his services into the classroom and by providing seminars targeted to all student levels, from freshmen to seniors.
