In an effort to expand our current physical activity programming, The School of Physical Education and Tourism Management's Adapted Physical Activity Clinics (APAC) will be Piloting a new clinic called the Inclusive Multi-Sport Clinic. This new clinic will provide a unique opportunity for individuals with disabilities ages 8 and up to receive sport-related instruction with a sibling. As always, our clinics have a dual purpose: to provide quality programming for individuals with disabilities and to educate students in the Department of Kinesiology about adapted physical activity. Therefore, participants will receive instruction from an upper-level Kinesiology student.
Inclusive Multi-Sport Clinic
Improving sport skills is the main objective for the Inclusive Multi-Sport Clinic. Participants receive individualized (one to two participants per instructor) sport skill related programming based on their abilities. We want to also to extend an invitation to interested siblings to participate alongside their brother or sister with a disability. Activities vary for each individual, but participants focus primarily on improving sport skills related to a sport of their choosing as well as participating in small group games. All activities will be individualized and modified based upon participant initial skill level. Kinesiology students will develop individualized lesson plans tailored to the needs of each participant.
Schedule and location
The APAC Inclusive Multi-Sports Clinic will held on Saturday’s from 9:30-11:00 and begin Saturday May 13, 2017 and continue through June 17.
**Clinic will not be held on May 27 due to Memorial Day Weekend**
APAC Inclusive Multi-Sports Clinic will be held at the IU Natatorium gymnasium, located on the IUPUI campus at 901 W. New York Street.
APAC Inclusive Multi-Sports Clinic participants will receive instruction from IUPUI students.
