Corporate fitness, health and wellness, sport management, athletic development and teacher education are just some of the career areas kinesiology department students enter after graduation. Physical and occupational therapy, as well as medicine, represent some of the graduate programs kinesiology students pursue after achieving bachelor’s degrees.
More than 600 students are engaged and energized by their ability to actively participate in research, service and experiential learning in the kinesiology department. Students benefit from quality academic programming, dynamic educators, and the unique learning environment made possible, in part, by partnerships in the greater Indianapolis community.
The department’s PARCS initiative and Motor Activity Clinic are examples of how students make a tangible, real difference in the community while simultaneously fulfilling their degree requirements. Under faculty supervision, students operate fitness centers in three Indianapolis public schools and provide adapted physical education programs to people of all ages with disabilities.
These real-life experiences represent a significant portion of what our graduates say make their experiences in the kinesiology department at IUPUI unforgettable. They also are examples of how IUPUI is a place where impact is made, every day.
