Department of Physical Education Offering Personal Fitness Evaluations
The Department of Physical Education is now offering personal fitness evaluations (PFE) to the IUPUI campus and community members through their P443 Exercise Science Internship class. If you sign up you will complete a health history questionnaire and be paired with a student in the course who will perform the PFE as well as discuss the results of the test(s). The PFE will include a submaximal or maximal cardiorespiratory fitness test and can also include but is not limited to the following:
Resting electrocardiogram (ECG)
Blood pressure determination
Blood lipid analysis
Blood lactate analysis
Body composition measurements
Muscular strength and endurance testing
Flexibility assessment
These tests will assist in:
Identifying your risk factors for certain diseases
Formulating an individual exercise prescription
Knowing your exercise capacity in relation to the general population
Understanding your fitness for certain sports and recreational activities
Evaluating the effects of your recent physical activity habits
For more information, please contact Lamia Scherzinger at lnuseibe@indiana.edu. To sign up for a test, please contact Charisse Acklin at 274-0600 or lcacklin@iupui.edu. Testing dates are every Monday and Wednesday from 3-5 pm starting on March 9, 2009 and going until April 15, 2009 (excluding spring break 3/16/09-3/20/09). You must schedule your PFE at least two weeks in advance to allow time for the completion of the health history questionnaire. There is a nominal fee of $30 for the testing to cover supply costs.
