IUPUI Moving Company

Modern, ballet, tap, African, Spanish, and jazz dancing styles are all part of the IUPUI Moving Company’s repertoire. This performing arts group comprised of IUPUI students representing a variety of academic disciplines enhances Indiana’s arts offerings while helping students gain experience in public performance and teaching techniques.

The Moving Company at IUPUI is a non-profit organization that was first formed in 1983 by then student Margot Faught. It has continued its growth under the direction of Mary Maitland Kimball and entered the new millennium with Paige Prill Craigie. The purpose is to give a performing outlet for IUPUI students while it also fulfills part of the credits needed for the IUPUI dance minor.

This student organization is currently funded primarily by private donations and fundraising by the members. The moving company hopes to expand awareness and education of the arts thoughout IUPUI and the Indianapolis area. The company is open to all styles of dance including jazz, modern, ballet, and tap. The company has three major shows throughout the school year, and a few smaller performances.

You can join the company as an extra-curricular or as a class. If joining just the extra-curricular portion, dues are collected. If participating in the class, fees go through the university for the credit hours.
